Since the spring of 2014, I have been pouring myself into Dunn DIY. I have had the privilege and the weight of building this brand from the ground up. What started out as a part-time job has turned into a large focus of my life for the last seven years. Looking back, I never would have guessed that I would find my passion in working for my family’s company. It was never a part of my plan. Yet, by the happiest of accidents, it has turned into the job I always wanted but never knew existed.
Over my time here I have grown more than just my DIY skills. I have grown as a person, as a problem solver, as a creative thinker, and as a member of a fifth-generation owned family business. I wouldn’t trade the experiences I’ve had over these past seven years for anything. It has been a joy to push myself and my skills and continue to come up with new content every single week. Despite some friends’ concerns, I have not run out of ideas. In fact, at this point, I think I have trained my brain to continue thinking up new DIY projects until the day I die. Through consistently tapping into my creative powers, I have grown them beyond what I thought was possible. And I know that will serve me for the rest of my life.
There has been so much good that I have reaped here. Yet all seasons come to an end. It is time for me to step down from my position here, and to break some new ground in my life.
This is not the end of Dunn DIY, so don’t worry. We’ll continue to be a great resource for DIY projects, inspiration, and how-tos; but now, you’ll get to hear from the many other talented DIYers at Dunn Lumber. And trust me—there’s a lot of talent here, and I’m so excited for what’s come.
This is a big change, but it’s a good one. The best part about Dunn Lumber is the people, and shaking things up gives us the opportunity to bring in some new faces and fresh perspectives to the ideas and projects we bring to life here at Dunn DIY.
Stepping back is bittersweet. I have grown and learned so much here! Thankfully I won’t ever step away altogether. This company is my family and it’s part of my life. I plan to always keep a hand in what’s going on here, and you'll still hear from me from time to time.
Thank you for joining me through seven years of videos, blog content, and your own DIY projects. We’ll always remain a source of inspiration and help for you, so stay tuned and keep on building. You got this!
